STARTING A NEW DAY, ANOTHER WEEK

Good morning everyone! It is 2 a.m. Monday morning and I cannot get to sleep. I have no idea why I am having trouble sleeping this morning. Sundays are very quiet days for me. I spent yesterday getting all of the household chores out-of-the-way so I could enjoy my Monday morning by writing, reading, and shopping.
I am doing the writing part early today and the reading and shopping will get done at a later time, maybe in the afternoon.
I hope your Monday morning goes well as each one of you get up and get started preparing to go to another day at work or school. I
have a lot of time on my hands as I have only been retired not quite a year yet. I do find a lot of things to do in order to make sure that I have a busy day, either out running around looking for items on my Christmas list or shopping for household goods. I do take the occasional trip to the library to get some good reading material to keep me occupied during the weekend when my little granddaughter is out running around with her dad visiting friends and other relatives. I am trying to buy everything on my Christmas gift list before the big day arrives. Last year I waited until 2 days before Christmas to shop and I wasn’t able to find as many items as I had wanted on my list. This year I decided not to put shopping off until the last possible moment. That doesn’t always work well for me if I do that. I don’t know how other people do this but when I go Christmas shopping everyone I run into seems to be in such a joyous Christmas shopping mood. I love this time of year. I will be putting up the Christmas tree this weekend and I have already gotten out the decorations in order to be ready to do the decorating of the tree and the house. I hope the lights that I already have do not have any burnt out bulbs anywhere. I had to go out and buy 2 new strings of lights the day before Christmas because several of the bulbs burnt out and made my tree look terrible. My neighbors have already started decorating their homes and the outside of their homes to. I have always been leery of putting lights around the outside of my house. I don’t feel safe doing that. I know when I was growing up on our farm in Indiana my father would always put the lights on the outside of our house but only around the roof of the front porch. Nothing every happened and I am thankful for that. My father was always making sure that when he put the lights on the tree, we always had a live tree, that it was done right and safely so we would not be afraid of the tree catching on fire and burning our home down. I think that is why I won’t put lights around the outside on the house.
My little granddaughter is wanting it to snow so she and her little friends and cousins can get out and build a giant snowman in their front yards. I don’t know when we will get any snow here, especially for Christmas. We did have some snowfall but not much the day before Thanksgiving and it melted the next day. She was disappointed that the snow was not deep enough to build one. I told her that if she was just patient for a little while longer it might snow soon and she can make one. She asked if I thought it might snow for Christmas and I told her I wasn’t sure about that but it would certainly be nice if it would snow for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. We will just have to see what the weather brings for our area the week of Christmas. I have been watching the news and I have seen the many states and cities that are getting huge amounts of snowfall. I hope everyone out there in that area is safe and that the children are at least enjoying the snowy weather and building lots of snowmen and snow forts. When I was little my older brothers and their friends would get together and build snow forts and have huge snowball fights with one another. Then they would take the time to help me and my friends build our snowmen and snow women, yes, I said snow women. They always made fun of our snow women but hey, we all had fun. Do any of you remember making snow women and snowmen. Hey, remember making all of those fantastic snow angels. I loved making those. That was a lot of fun to do on a cold snowy day. Then when we finished our snow angels my mother would always have cups of hot chocolate and fresh home-made cookies for us to help us warm back up. I miss being little but the memories are fond ones when I take the time to remember what I did when I was little like my granddaughter. She is such a delight to me. She turned 8 years old this November and I realize how fast she is growing up. One of these days she will be graduating high school and be ready to start out on her own. Until then I am going to take all the pictures I can and savor all the moments I have to spend with her because she is so precious to me. But then all our children are precious to us, aren’t they?
It is only 2:30 in the morning and I do not feel sleepy yet. Time to go make that cup of warm milk and hope it helps to make me sleepy. Goodnight everyone and keep blogging.
Until I blog again see you,
Jayne
